Q. Will I need to pay any out-of-pocket expenses if I decide to participate in the domestic medical travel benefit? Answer
A. If you qualify for domestic medical travel, the cost of your medical procedure will be at no cost, or at a reduced cost to you. Q. Will I need to pay for travel expenses? ANSWER
A. No. Travel expenses for you and your travel companion are included in this benefit program. Depending on the distance of travel, covered expenses include hotel accommodations, airfare, rental car, and a travel allowance provided prior to travel. If you are within driving distance to the medical provider, you will receive a prepaid mileage allowance. All arrangements are coordinated by your Hostcare Travel Specialist; thus, these charges are directly billed to Hostcare so you have no upfront costs to cover.
Q. If I prefer to drive versus fly would my travel costs still be covered? ANSWER
A. Hostcare Resources would be happy to discuss this option with you. If it is decided that a driving reimbursement is viable for a longer trip, you would be compensated with a mileage allowance or you may be presented with the option of a rental vehicle for your travel needs.
Q. How will I pay for my meals and incidentals while I am traveling? ANSWER
A. Prior to traveling you will receive a daily travel allowance to be used for meals and incidentals. It will be at your discretion on how you choose to utilize the travel allowance so there is no need to turn in receipts.
Q. Will I need to put any of the travel expenses on my own credit card? ANSWER
A. Hostcare Resources has a direct bill account set up for your hotel room and tax charges. The hotel will require each guest have a personal credit card on file at the time of check-in. Additional charges incurred, such as movies or room service, would be charged to your personal credit card.
In addition, you will need to pay for baggage fees and airport parking if you are flying. These charges will be reimbursed to you by Hostcare. Q. Do I need to enroll in the Hostcare Resources benefit? ANSWER
A. No. Members are eligible to qualify for this program if your employer’s health plan includes Hostcare Resources as part of their voluntary benefits.
Q. Do I pay for Hostcare Resources services? ANSWER
A. No. Hostcare Resources is a benefit through your employer’s medical health plan at no cost to you.
Q. Does Hostcare Resources receive compensation from surgeons or hospitals? ANSWER
A. No. Hostcare Resources works for employers and their health plan members. Facilities and surgeons that are presented to members are solely chosen based on the quality of care and their willingness to participate in the domestic medical travel program. Hostcare Resources does not receive any compensation or commissions from any medical providers.
